Conversion Documentation (Draft, 12/18/2009)
Draft of the 11-to-12 field conversions that are executed by northcon12_u and, in the future, by nconv12 and northcon12. Definitely incomplete, this set of html files describes what is actually done by the current unfinished conversion program.
Send questions, comments, and bug-reports to nconv12@volumeii.com. This mailbox is checked three times a day, Monday-Friday.
Download zipped northcon12_u.exe (12/18/2009)
This is a command-line version of Northcon12 that works on NAACCR 11 Type A, C, I, and M records. Be sure to open a
command window to run the program. Clicking will usually not work well.
At the command line, run northcon12_u without parameters to see where to put the names of the input file, output file, and
other options. Each record is marked as a test record in the Reserved 02 field.
Download zipped show12rec.exe (12/18/2009)
Check the results of some conversions done by northcon12_u.exe or your own converter. This command-line program will
break out and display the fields of some NAACCR 12 records of Type A, C, I, and M records from a file of such records. Run the
program without parameters to see what you need on the command line. Examine the resulting output file html_recs\index.html with your browser. see example
Download zipped ah_v11_re_aged.dat (10/08/2009)
This file of 150 records is like previous versions of the ah_v??.dat files except that all the dates
have been incremented by eight years to make them more contemporary. This file originated as a hand-crafted
NAACCR version 4 file of made-up data. It has been converted by standard conversion programs to NAACCR
version 11. The original file focused mainly on the fields required by NPCR at the time, so it is somewhat
sparse in terms of current requirements. Use these records freely.
Download zipped ah_v12.dat (12/18/2009)
The file contains the result of running the current in-process northcon12 conversion program on ah_v11_re_aged.dat. It may be useful to you for testing the mechanical aspects of your own NAACCR 12 software. It's a work in progress-- watch for updates.
